During an event held under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena, fifty retired soldiers who were recruited as technical officers, received their letters of appointment on Tuesday, October 11.
Recruitment of technical officers took place under the first phase of the National Human Resources Development programme.
Speaking at the event, President Sirisena said that the objective of the programme is to use the experience and the knowledge of retired soldiers for the development of the national economy and to ensure the well-being of the soldiers.
The president also addressed allegations that the current government is not treating its soldiers in a just manner by stating that government is dedicated to ensure the well-being of all security forces personnel.
