The Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya, along with a delegation, left to China on Sunday, October 9.
The Speaker’s Media Division said that the delegation left to Çhina upon an invitation extended by the Chinese government, with the aim of strengthening ties between the Chinese and Sri Lankan Parliaments.
The delegation included Opposition leader R. Sampanthan, Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka representing the United National Party, and Minister Susil Premajayantha representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
The Speaker’s Media Division added that the leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake, leader of the Muslim Congress Rauf Hakeem and Leader of EPDP Douglas Devananda were also included in the delegation.
The tour is sponsored by the Chinese government.
