A discussion was held on Sunday between the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of the Eastern Province with regard to handing over of  teaching appointments to persons who have completed courses in education faculties.

Attention was also focussed at the meeting  on the problems faced by teachers serving in the Eastern Province. Chief Minister of the Eastern Province highlighted to the Prime Minister that only 392 persons were chosen for 1134 available vacancies in the Mathematics, Science and English subjects.

A statement issued by the Chief Minister says that he believes that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will take measures to fill the remaining vacancies.
