Residents of six villages including Punawinna and Kadapalla who face many hardships due to the absence of a bridge to travel across the Maduru Oya, expressed their grievances to the Gammadda 100 day initiative on Sunday.
Locals of several villages which fall under the purview of the Rideemaliyadda Divisional Secretariat, have been compelled for many years to use a small bridge between the Eakiriyan village and Kalugahakolaya village.
However, even though the relevant authorities were informed of the requirement, their plea has fallen on deaf ears. The attention of the Gammadda Secretariat was immediately drawn towards this issue.
A Gammadda team has been dispatched to meet with the villagers on Monday and inquire into their needs.
