An illegal brewery that was allegedly operating in two houses in Katana were raided by the Excise Unit attached to the Ministry of Finance.
Our correspondent said that the Police Special Task Force and the Sri Lanka Army assisted in the raid.
He said that a high wall had been constructed around the alleged illegal brewery to operate undetected and that it was allegedly in operation under the guise of a poultry farm and a nursery that grows flowers.
Authorities say over 5000 litres of illegal alcohol and over Rs.100,000 in cash were found at the location during the raid.
Two suspects were arrested by the police in connection to the incident while a motorcycle had also been seized.
