Bribery Commission files case against A.H.M. Fowzie

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed a case against State Minister A. H. M. Fowzie for the alleged possession and use of a vehicle owned by the Disaster Management Centre, while serving in the capacity of Minister of Disaster Management.

The case was filed before, Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption notes that the state minister had allegedly misused a pick-up truck worth Rs.19.5 million obtained via foreign aid, and thereby caused losses to the government.

In addition, the minister is charged with influencing the ministry secretary as well.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate issued notice on the state minister to appear in court on October 28.
