Labour Minister to engage in discussion over estate workers’ demands

Another discussion in relation to the increment of wages of estate workers will take place on Wednesday, October 5 under the auspices of the Minister of Labour W.D.J. Seneviratne.

Members of the plantation worker unions and the Estate Employers Federation will participate in the discussion. The subject minister said that they hope to reach a final agreement at today’s discussion.

Meanwhile, plantation worker unions say that they will continue their strike action until they are granted a wage of Rs.1000 a day.

When News 1st made an inquiry from the Estate Employers Federation in this regard, they said that no information could be disclosed until a consensus has been reached.
