On Tuesday, October 4, we explained that in the ‘developed’ parts of Sri Lanka, the city have little to no problems in raising their issues with authorities, if they have any.
We then reported on the rural parts of the country and how they, our own countrymen, have been rendered helpless with no place to raise their issues – and no one to tell them to.
Yesterday, October 4: Signatures were placed on a petition seeking a solution to a water crisis. The petition was signed by the locals from villages in the Balapitiya Divisional Secretariat including the Aurora village.
Today, Octobber 5: A News 1st team went in search of the issue faced by the locals in Balapitiya.
These residents had gone before numerous officials in order to resolve their issue. However since they did not receive any support ,they turned to the Gammadda 100 Days Initiative for assistance.
The petition signed by these locals aspiring for a solution for their drinking water issue was handed over to our team today.
We at News 1st are prepared to be of assistance to these people who engage in a daily battle to simply obtain access to clean drinking water.
