At least half of the staff at Mihin Lanka will be absorbed into SriLankan Airlines, it was revealed by SriLankan Airlines at a press conference today, October 5.
During the press briefing SLA also stated that that new regional routes will be introduced to further reduce the losses of the company.
It was highlighted that SriLankan Airlines incurred a loss of Rs. 9.03 billion at the end of the financial year 2015/16, even though it has performed well compared to the last financial year.
In this backdrop, the government reversed a deal to purchase A350 Aircraft that was reached in the year 2013. However, a significant amount of money had to be payed as a ‘contract termination fee’.
As a further step to cut down costs, flight routes that operate to Europe were cancelled in November while the daily London flight is still in operation.
