The proposed tariff hike is being made in order to bridge the revenue gap in response to a PUCSL request for an End User Tariff proposal for the period of October 2016 to March 2017.
Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ajith P. Perera, speaking to News 1st, said that the future course of action will be decided upon a thorough study carried out in this regard.
He added that a decision to increase the tariffs or not will be taken after considering the public’s concerns with regard to this move
