Tense situation erupts at Hambantota Coordination Committee Meeting

A tense situation erupted at the Hambantota District Coordination Committee meeting which was held at the Hambantota Administrative Complex Auditorium on Monday, September 26 as different views were expressed on lands belonging to the Mahaweli Authority.

The committee meeting was held under the auspices of the Chairman of the Hambantota District Coordination Committee, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera.

Minister of Housing and Construction Sajith Premadasa and Parliamentarian Nihal Galappaththi were also present at the meeting.

The opposition Leader of the Southern Provincial Council S. Tennakoon Nilame stated to the Chairman that work cannot be done in the presence of thieves. He claimed that the president and the Prime Minister are operating in a government of good governance , however, there are thieves in their midst as well, he alleged.
