Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam  made an announcement for those who fail the GCE Ordinary Level Examinations.

He added that they will be beginning an initiative in 2018, which will see every student sitting for the Ordinary Level Examinations in 2017  able to progress towards sitting for the Advanced Level Examinations – whatever the result they obtain for their O Level examinations.

The minister went on to note that those who excel in their GCE Ordinary Level Exams have a higher chance of opting for the Bio or Maths stream for their A Levels;  while those who fall below the results of the students who excel, could maybe, opt for streams like arts, music or even the technology stream.
