An Australian has successfully patented, and started selling, the Hamdog ( a combination of a hotdog and a burger in one bun).

Created by a man in Perth, Australia, it’s the world’s only patented burger, which he’s now rolling out across the rest of Australia. And hopefully, soon across the globe.

Mark Murray first appeared on Shark Tank – the Australian equivalent to the UK show Dragon’s Den – where he pitched the idea to potential investors.

However the judges turned him down for funding.

But one year later, he is selling the Hamdogs at fairs and markets across Western Australia and looking for people interested in taking on a franchise.

The Frankenstein-style food is a frankfurter gently placed between two halves of a beef patty, and topped with cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato, American mustard, ketchup and mayo – all nestled within a carefully designed Hamdog bun, which is is basically a regular burger bun with hot dog bun ends attached.

Each Hamdog costs $8 AUD (approximately £4.65) and all the ingredients are locally sourced from Western Australia, bar the pickles – they’re from America.
