Giving a new lease on life to hundreds and thousands of despairing Sri Lankans in some of the remotest parts of the country, News 1st’s Gammadda 100 days initiative powers on….
Over the past 62 days, the lives of people living in villages which have slipped through the bureaucratic net; villages where officials are yet to set foot, have seen a new dawn.
While undertaking projects to uplift the livelihoods of rural communities across the country, the Gammadda project is also embedding in the people a sense of community and social responsibility through the establishment of Gammadda Saviya community organisations.
These communities have been given the opportunity to lead themselves into the future and to face challenges with faith and confidence.
Bringing new meaning to the lives of senior citizens, renewed energy for the youth, trust for the women and a bright future for the children, the largest public service initiative in Sri Lanka continues to blaze a trail of progress…
On Tuesday, September 20, work will commence on the renovation of the Committee Hall at the Sri Samudrasanna Viharaya in Kandakuliya, resolving yet another issue faced by rural Sri Lankans.
