Court rejects objection by Namal in case involving accusation of insulting Bribery Commission

The Supreme Court informed on September 15, that charges be filed against MP Namal Rajapaksa, who is accused of insulting the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The court disregarded the preliminary objection filed by Namal Rajapaksa.

The case was taken up before a bench comprising of Chief Justice K. Sripavan and Justice Priyantha Jayawardana.

MP Namal Rajapaksa also appeared in court today.

Submitting the preliminary objection, the attorney representing Rajapaksa noted that the Bribery Commission cannot file a case with regard to this charge.

Rejecting the objection, the Supreme Court ordered that charges be filed against Namal Rajapaksa on the accusation of insulting the Bribery Commission.
