The Attorney General’s Department has said that a special team has been appointed to speed up the process of filing cases in relation to the investigations being conducted by the Police FCID.
Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya said that a separate supervisor has been appointed for this purpose as well.
He said that a number of veterans who helped with cases pertaining to corruption and fraud too were included in the team.
He went on to say that investigations completed by the police FCID into over 50 cases in relation to corruption and fraud, have been presented to the AG’s Department and that fifteen of those cases had been taken up in court.
