Seven days, in other words,  a week has gone by since the disappearance of G.G. Gayashan, who was reported missing while being in police custody.

The incident

Gayashan was arrested by police for  allegedly stealing a stock of paddy. He was  reported missing afterwards.

The family has accused the Hambantota Police for the disappearance of Gayashan but the accusation was dismissed by police who maintain that the youth “escaped police custody”.

No information has come to light on the incident thus far.

What followed…

*The HQI of the Hambantota Police and five other police officers were given temporary transfers by the Police Headquarters on Sunday, September 11.

*An investigation under the direct supervision of the DIG of the southern province is currently underway.

*Statements were recorded by a special police team attached to the Tangalle division, who visited the house of Gayashan.

Meanwhile… News 1st met with his twin brother in Colombo

“The two of us are identical.  He must be roaming about the village, I don’t think that he would escape from the police. He is not a person who has the guts to do such a thing”, said  Gayashan’s twin brother.
