The Ministry of Health has noted that there is a significant rise in the number of complaints from patients who have been treated at private hospitals, alleging they have charged excessively for services.

Secretary to the Ministry of Health Anura Jayawickrama said that the maximum limit for laboratory service charges has been fixed. But also said that there is room for the prices to be dropped.

The Secretary said however, that the higher prices have not prevented complaints being lodged against private hospitals for poor services being delivered to patients.
