Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake on Wednesday, met with the research team of the programme”Citizens’ Engagement in the Budgetary Process – 2017″.
Secretary to Ministry of Finance, R.H.S. Samaratunga and the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury A.R. Deshapriya were also in attendance at the meeting.
Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanayake stated that professionalism is required and even though problems exist; guiding through turbulent times is a necessity. However, the problem that must be overcome is “doing stupid things when we know we can do without it”.
He pointed out that there is a national plan and if expectations of the national planning cannot be met locally, then it must be ensured that the technical know-how comes from outside and if both those are not sufficient enough, then there is the need for foreign direct investments.
