Questions were raised regarding the COPE investigation on the Central Bank bond transaction, during several events held on Wednesday.

UPFA Parliamentarian, Bandula Gunewardena stated that the Central Bank bond issue should be considered as the key issue, since the Auditor General has submitted a report in this regard.

He added that even the chairman faces an issue where he is unable to carry on the functions due to various obstructions.

Chairman of COPE, MP Sunil Handunnetti stated that the bond issue is included in the interim report. Moreover, the Committee on Public Enterprises has drawn a time table to include every detail regarding the issue, with all attachments, and will table it before this parliament.

He added that they have an intention to complete the report by October 13.

Convener for the Voice Against Corruption, Wasantha Samarasinghe stated that former CBSL Governor went home after the end of his tenure and was appointed as the head of the biggest project of the government and is being taken around the world.

He added that the Deputy Governor P. Samarasiri who is also mainly involved in this issue, still serves in his position at the Central Bank.
