A media briefing for the ninth Session of Sri Lanka Model United Nations was held in Colombo under the theme Localising Global Goals.

Group Director of The Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited, Chevaan Daniel noted that Franklin Roosevelt came up with notion of the UN in the 1940s. He could not walk and had a failing heart.

He added that after the world war 1, the league of nations was obliterated. It was in this background that after world war two that Franklin decided that the world needed United Nations. So, it was a result of two world wars and the mind of a Paraplegic that the United Nations was born. It attracted 51 nations of that time. But sadly today it is United Nations itself that appears to be at war with itself and paralysed with ineffectiveness.
