The Sri Lankan national who had previously been sentenced to be stoned to death in Saudi Arabia, has returned to her homeland.

The sentence was handed down to the woman, who is a resident of Maradana, for allegedly having an illicit relationship with a Sri Lankan man in Saudi.

The Sri Lankan man was also sentenced to a punishment of 100 lashes. This incident was subject to much attention. Following a request made by the government of Sri Lanka, her sentence was reduced to imprisonment.

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Saudi Azmi Thassim said that the woman has arrived in the country following the end of her prison sentence.
