Fire breaks out at Peliyagoda factory

A fire that broke out at a factory in Pattiya junction in Peliyagoda, completely destroyed the premises.

The fire broke out at 2.00 p.m. at a polythene manufacturing plant. Five fire trucks from the Colombo Fire Services Department were dispatched to douse the fire. According to the police a transformer located adjacent to the location was also damaged.

No casualties were reported. Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.

The Minister for Regional Development, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka,  arrived at the site when the fire broke out and charged that the activities carried out by the factory here was illegal and that it definitely caused damage to the environment as well as the lives of people,but in the past this may have taken place with someone’s influence.
