Nine cases filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena were called before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court at Hulftsdorp.
The cases were filed on the basis that the deputy minister had caused losses to the state when he had leased vehicles for the National Lotteries Board, during his tenure as chairman of the board.
Charges levelled on two separate cases were amended when they were taken up for consideration before Magistrate Aruni Artigala. The magistrate thereafter ordered the cases be taken up for consideration once again on December 6.
