The Sri Lankan Airlines pilot who is responsible for delaying a flight for fifteen hours, has been suspended.

In a statement issued by SriLankan Airlines, it was made clear that the pilot was caught to be under the influence of alcohol, following a test carried out at the Frankfurt Airport in Germany.

Accordingly, immediate steps were carried out by Sri Lankan Airlines to suspend the pilot.

Flight UL554 was scheduled to depart Frankfurt Airport to Colombo at 3.20 p.m. on Friday, with 259 passengers on board.

However, the flight departed at 6.20 last morning (Saturday).

Under European Union Regulations, passengers aboard the delayed flight should be paid a compensation for the delay and inconvenience.
