A ship with eight Sri Lankan sailors on board was taken into custody by authorities in the United Arab Emirates.

The ship named Al Khalidia was apprehended by the Fujairah Coast Guard after a case was filed against the operations of the vessel ,citing that vessel was used to conduct illegal activities.

The United Arab Emirates consists of seven regions which includes the region of Fujairah

Currently the Al Khalidia ship is docked in the seas of the Fujairah security zone.

When News1st inquired into the matter from Charitha Yaththogoda, the Sri Lankan Consular General in Dubai, he said that the issue is being looked into.

He added that there have been complications in dealing with the group of Sri Lankan sailors due to poor communication between the parties.
