Today the News 1st Gammedda 100-Days Initiative brought a sigh of relief to two villages that have been neglected over the years.
The dilapidated Main Hall of the Mahasen Vidyalaya in Yaya-26 in Polonnaruwa will be renovated under this initiative.
The only place the students of the Mahasen Vidyalaya in Polonnaruwa have to display their skills and talents is their school’s main hall.
Lakshmi Jayasinghe Director/ General Manager of Stein Studios and Members of Team News 1st were among those present at the event.
This initiative is sponsored by the Gampaha Regional Monks Associations.
It is our hope, that the students of Mahasen Vidyalaya, Polonnaruwa, will be able to display their talents in the newly-renovated school main hall in the near future.
Meanwhile, another project under the Gammedda 100-Days Initiative commenced to provide clean drinking water to the residents of Egodagama, and five other villages in Bandarawela.
The residents of these villages, sourced their drinking water from small water holes dug in random places. This habit was the root cause for a number of diseases to spread in the village.
Today, tears of joy rolled down the faces of the people in Egodagama as the News 1st Gammedda 100 Days Initiative took steps to provide them with something they have been hoping for many years and were deprived of.
These people will be able to enjoy the luxury of clean drinking water within the next two weeks.
