Four wild elephants were killed after being knocked down by a train in Mannar.
The mail train from Talaimannar to Colombo Fort crashed into the elephants in Mannar early in the morning on Wednesday August 17, suspending operations along the tracks for over an hour.
Operations on the tracks however, have been restored.
The Wild Life Office in Anuradhapura said that it had dispatched officers to the location.
