A house and farm land, turned into shambles in a period of thirty minutes. People in Kelegama, Galgamuwa faced the horror of their hard work being destroyed before their very eyes.

At 08:30 on Tuesday night, a herd of wild elephants laid siege on the village of Kelegama.

A villager noted that his son called him and warned him not to come home because an elephant was attacking the house.

Walsapugala, in remote Hambantota was also battered by wild elephants.

An operation by the wild life officers from Hambantota and Sooriya Arana, together with the police foiled the wild elephant incursion to the village.
