A 7.2-magnitude earthquake has struck southeast off the island nation of Vanuatu in Oceania, US Geological Survey has reported. An alert over a local threat of a tsunami has been issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The US Geological Survey said the quake was 535km (330 miles) southeast of Vanuatu island.
There were no initial reports of damage or casualties.
A tsunami warning was briefly issued, but then cancelled.
