Minister Rajitha Seneratne revealed that two lands, said to be owned by Basil Rajapaksa, are to be taken over by the state. He added that proposals were made to the cabinet to construct another ‘police’ but they already have an academy in Kalutara.
He added that even though there are indictments filed against lands owned by Basil Rajapaksa, they claim that the land in Kaduwela is not owned by them.
Explaining further he noted the 18-acre land was purchased for Rs. 64 million and another Rs. 125 million was spent for constructions. The deed which is under ‘Mr. Nadesan” claims to know nothing. It could be said that when the deed is drafted the person who obtains it does not sign it, only the person who gives it signs it. Therefore the contractor, architect, engineer want to to know who builds the house and gives the payment.
He went on to note that the same issue persists in Brown Hill, Matara. As a result the 18-acre land will be used to construct the Police Academy through a Cabinet paper. A case is present against Basil Rajapaksa regarding this, and it will be taken over by the state for a tourism academy.
