Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that former president Mahinda Rajapaksa should be brought before a parliamentary committee in order to be questioned regarding the obtaining of loans, deceiving state accounts.
The PM noted that they have appointed a three-member committee from March 1, 2016 with the guidance of the former secretary to look into the matter where the country is in debt of Rs. 9.5 billion. He added that the issue cannot be resolved by obtaining more loans but only by increasing the country’s income.
He went on to note that they have a need to implement a system in 2017 to generate more income with a new tax system.
