A protest staged by Sri Lankans residing in Dammam, Alkobar, Saudi Arabia has come to an end.
Twelve Sri Lankans staged the protest close to the main entrance of a factory in Alkobar, after wages for a period of eight months were not paid.
News 1st made an inquiry in this regard and brought the attention of relevant officials to the hardship faced by these Sri Lankans. The individuals allege that their monthly wages were not paid. A lack of food were among many difficulties they faced.
One of the demonstrators, Selvadorai Srikanth, said that the protest was called off after officers of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Saudi Arabia promised that their issues would be resolved.
