A felicitation ceremony organised by the Forum for National Unity was held under the auspices of State minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene in Colombo on Friday. The ceremony saw the participation of number of dignitaries including State Minister of National Integration and Reconciliation A.H.M Fowzie and Mayor of Colombo A. J. M. Muzammil.
State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijeyawardene stated that the re-emergence of the LTTE is remote, and the defense forces, the police and intelligence branches are constantly on high alert – even though details cannot be revealed.
He added that necessary measures have been taken to prevent a re-emergence of the LTTE.
“I am also aware of how the ISIS phenomenon has affected the Muslim community in Sri Lanka”, he said and went on to reiterate that the Defence establishment and the police are diligent and alert to anyone foreign or local, attempting use this country to recruit or train for extremist terror groups.
