A rare copy of the comic in which Superman made his debut made a whopping $956,000 (Thats around Rs 1,400,00,00).

Action Comics is an American comic book series that brought the ever-powerful Kryptonian to eyes of the public. Now known as D.C Comics the publisher was was originally known as Detective Comics, Inc., and later as National Comics and as National Periodical Publications

The most recognized superhero in pop culture, Superman has been elevated to a god-like status with the realms of comics. Action Comics No 1 cost 10 cents when it first went on sale in 1938. With only 100 originals known to be in existence ts condition was rated 5.5 out of 10.

However this was not the highest amount paid for a comic; with a copy of the same edition with 9 out of 10 rating fetched $3.2m (£1.9m) in 2014.

After his appearance in Action Comics No 1, Superman soon became a hit and was given his own dedicated comic in 1939.
