The electoral reform debate organised by the Bar Association together with Transparency International Sri Lanka and the European Union in Sri Lanka,  took place on Tuesday, July 27.

President of the BASL, Geoffrey Alagaratnam stated that the behaviour of members of parliament depicts the parliament being converted into a boxing ring and used as virtually a residence for the night with all sorts of colourful clothing.

He added that they cannot assure the best members are selected to parliament and also whether special provision must be made for women’s representation.
