Prevention of kidney disease, food production among programmes under presidential supervision

Four  national programmes are currently taking place under the direct supervision of the Presidential Secretariat. This is being done to achieve the goals set out by the president in order to achieve economic and social stability in the coming years.

President Maithripala Sirisena has commenced a number of projects under his watchful eye, in order to accomplish the manifesto he presented during the presidential election under the theme Maithri Rule – A stable nation.

The National Programme on the Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease, National Drug Prevention Programme, National Food Production Programme and the National programme on Environmental Conservation are among the projects which are being successfully initiated.

These projects are being carried out by various task forces established for its purpose.

The project which aims to completely wipe out the chronic kidney disease which is widespread in the dry zone of Sri Lanka by the 2018, is one such project of much significance.The programme aims at preventing the disease and looking into the welfare of the patient and family.

The creation of a drug-free nation is in effect with the target of completely freeing the country’s state revenue made up of excise income by the 2020.

The National Food Production Programme is in effect with the objective of increasing the production of rations. vegetables and fruits within the country free of toxins. The National Program on Environmental Conservation is underway under the direct supervision of the president, with the sole objective of conserving Sri Lanka’s natural resources for the sake of future generations.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Secretariat is in motion of formulating yet another National Programme for the Safety of Children.
