The Ceylon Employers’ Federation has agreed to pay the interim allowance with the due amount of estate workers’ proposed salary increment.The decision was reached following discussions with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Ministry of Finance has issued the certificate which is essential to pay the allowances in line with the salary increment of the estate workers.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Plantation Industries said that the amount paid for a kilogramme of raw tea leaves has increased to Rs.72.
Secretary to the Ministry Upali Marasinghe said that the reason behind the increment was the increase in the production of tea that was previously at a low rate owing to a drought.
