Coal is a resource that has gained the attention of many these days. Another adverse side effect of coal usage has come to light where crops have been affected by the open piles of coal that have been dumped near the Norochcholai coal power plant. The strong breeze that flows through area carries small particles of coal dust from the power plant to neighbouring areas such as this

Residents claim that there crops have been adversely affected

“All our vegetable patches were burnt. We are always in our vegetables patches and this dust goes into our lungs when we breathe”,charged a resident affected by the issue

All around this area there are withering trees and plants that can be witnessed,due to the effects of coal dust and this situation has adversely affected the day-to-day lives of many in the area.

“We cannot live in our houses”,charged another local from the area who further complained that due to this issue, children get sick and that several children suffer from asthma.
