The appointment of an interim Homeopathic Medical Council was debated in Parliament on Tuesday, July 05

Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan stated that Homeopathy doctors feel that if an interim council is considered to be necessary, it should not function for more than six months.

He added that an interim arrangement is a temporary arrangement to enable permanent arrangement to be functional, since a Homeopathic Medical Council could be set up within matter of few months.

Minister of Health, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne stated that lots of meetings can be held in six months.

Explaining further,  the opposition leader noted that he should consider the interim council’s function of two years or a lesser period.
