Salawa Blast: 300 soldiers assigned to bring back “normalcy”

The special committee appointed by the president stated that a committee of appeal was appointed to ensure relief for those who were affected by the fire that erupted in the Salawa Army Camp.

The committee consist of Ministers Ravi Karunanayake, Susil Premajayantha and several others.

When News1st made inquiries, Minister Susil Premajayantha stated if the residents do not receive compensation for the damaged houses, the committee will look into it. The Minister also stated that steps have been taken to estimate the loss to damaged houses in the area.

He added that 350 persons have received the monthly compensation.The Minister went on to note that the progress will monitored during relief operations.

Meanwhile, the Civil Security Department stated that 300 soldiers have been given the task of bringing the disaster affected area to normalcy.

Media Director and the Spokesperson Major Vajira Kumarathunga stated that the team was assigned to clean the area.
