Speaking at Temple Trees, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe elaborated on the lifting of the EU fishing ban on Sri Lanka.
PM Wickremesinghe noted that Sri Lanka was listed as a country which did not take action against illegal fishing – but now it has been removed, therefore those engaged in the fisheries trade could export and receive more money.
Elaborating on the Port City Project he noted that they will not give full ownership to anyone since they will enter a new agreement with China. The premier stated that discussions are being held to use it for financial activities, trade activities, legal activities and also shut the gap between Singpore and Dubai.
Explaining the ECTA agreement, he noted that they are hoping to sign the Economic and Technical Cooperation agreement by the end of the year.
He added that a joint venture between the Indian Oil Company and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to develop oil tanks in Trincomalee is being discussed.
