President Maithripala Sirisena presided over a special meeting on the morning of Friday June 17 to discuss ways of providing immediate relief to the people who were affected by the unexpected explosion at the Salawa Army Camp.
During the meeting a special committee was appointed by president to provide relief to the people affected in the blast.
According to a communique issued by the President’s Media Division, the decision was made following a meeting held this morning .
Individuals appointed to the committee include;
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake
Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadarshana Yapa
Minister of Science and Technlogy Susil Premajayantha
The communique by the President’s Media Division notes that the president had instructed the committee to coordinate all necessary relief measures until the lives of those affected return to normalcy.
