Leopard killed on the Southern Expressway

A leopard has been killed after being run over by a vehicle in Kanduruwa, Galle.

The News 1st correspondent of the area stated the leopard was run over by a vehicle at the Pinnaduwa interchange on the Expressway at dawn on Friday June 17.

The leopard was found to be a full grown female, which is rare in the wild. According to wildlife experts, the leopard species which the leopard belongs to is the largest species found in Sri Lanka.

Though these species can adopt to any climate, their lives are under threat owing to the deforestation of wet zones.
