Iceland managed to hold off Portugal on their European Championship debut, in Group F.
Iceland had a chance early on to put their noses in front when Gylfi Sigurdsson took an angled shot that was was followed up with another shot on the rebound but had both attempts saved.
Nani,came through for Portugal but in a shocking turn of events Birkir Bjarnason managed to equalize for Iceland.
Iceland are the smallest nation ever to reach a European Championship finals, with a population of approximately 330,000, and have no professional clubs but have been a resilient side beating Netherlands twice on the way to qualifying for the tournament in France
