SL Army says reconstruction of Kosgama houses completed; shrapnel being removed

The reconstruction of 118 houses damaged in the blast at the Kosgama, Salawa Army Camp have been concluded.The reconstructions activities of these houses concluded on Monday with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Army.

The Sri Lankan Army states that five brigadiers will be allocated to five zones in order to remove debris and shrapnel and to engage in reconstruction activities following the explosion at the Salawa Army Camp.

Sri Lanka Army Spokesperson, Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera states removal of shrapnel from a radius of 2km from the Salawa army camp will be concluded by Tuesday afternoon.

He also added that the reconstruction activities of the Out Patient Department of the Kosgama, Salawa Hospital has been concluded and reconstruction of the wards of the hospital will be concluded and handed over by Tuesday  afternoon.

Meanwhile, the initiative of providing a sum of Rs.50,000  to individuals whose houses were damaged following the explosion at the Salawa army camp will commence on Tuesday morning.

Seethawaka Divisional Secretary M.M.S. Bandara said that 92 persons will be provided with cheques. He stated that 142 selected individuals will be provided with cheques on Tuesday afternoon.
