According to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) the shortage of employees has prevented the full fleet of buses from being in service.
The Deputy General Manager of the SLTB, Raja Gunethileke stated that out of 6200 buses only 5500 buses are in service due to the shortage of drivers and bus conductors.
When News1st contacted the Secretary of the Transport Ministry, Nihal Somaweera he stated that a staff positions list has been made for the SLTB.
Explaining further he noted that measures are currently underway to employ 800 bus drivers and conductors.
