The provision of fertiliser subsidies on tea, rubber and coconuts is set to commence on Sunday.
Secretary at the Ministry of Plantation Industries, Upali Marasinghe said that the opening ceremony will be held in Galle and that money will be transferred over the course of a year, into the bank accounts cultivators of tea, rubber and coconut who own less than one hectare of land, for the purpose of buying fertiliser.
The state has allocated Rs.2.194 billion for the provision of fertiliser subsidies. Approximately 700,000 cultivators are due to receive the subsidies.
