Military expert, Retired Major General Mano Perera, commented on the incident that took place at the Salawa Army Camp.
He noted that if the disaster occurred elsewhere, there would have been many people injured and dead, but since the organisation was prevalent with the army, the action taken to prevent unwanted damage to maintain compliance standards, and the damage caused from the explosion is relatively less.
He added that the army is in the process of shifting ammunition to safer areas – which requires a very large area.
Speaking further, he noted that the army did a good job to force the people to evacuate homes before any real danger.
