Army Media Spokesperson, Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera has confirmed to News1st that the fire which erupted at the Salawa army camp in Kosgama has been completely doused.
He also noted that Army Commander Lt. Gen. Krishantha De Silva had ordered for a court of inquiry into the incident. Initial reports of the fire were first received at around 5.45 p.m. on Sunday.
A fire at the army camp had spread to an armoury located within the camp, causing intermittent explosions till early Monday morning.
According the Director General of Health Services Dr. Palitha Maheepala, one casualty was reported, while 47 individuals suffered injuries, 37 of which were minor injuries.
